G & G has obtained the exclusive representation for Italy of the loading system denominated Sliding CarpetTM and produced by Scandinavian Bellyloading Company (SBC) for the most popular narrow body aircraft.
The system consists of a Sliding Carpet, that, installed in the hold of the aircraft allows the operator to move with an electric switch the baggages when loading or unloading remaining in the door area.
The advantages that such system offers, in respect of the traditional loading, is a better management of the manpower, a drastic reduction of the accidents, a concrete reduction of the damages to the baggages and to the same hold of the aircraft, and a reduction of handling times.
The system, beyond the benefits of social character, promises economic saving to the airlines, both in case they use external handling agents, (that normally grant discount for the operations on aircraft with the Sliding Carpet installed) and in case they act in selfhandling. The advantages are represented by an economic saving in excess of 50,000$ per year for each aircraft and in a reduction of handling times, between the 16 and the 35%.
About 400 units, outof the 860 orderly, have been already installed on the fleets of the major airlines worldwide like SAS, Delta, American Airlines and JAL.
Currently the system is available for the following aircrafts types:
Airbus A319, A320, A321
Boeing B737, B757
MDC MD90, MD81/ 82, MD87, MD81, DC9-41
Boeing, the largest manufacturer of commercial aircrafts, considers the system very interesting and offers it as an option on all the B737 and B757 of present and future production.
