A single solution for all the airline's needs

Aviation Fleet Solutions (AFS), based in Renton, Washington USA has selected G&G Aviation as its European sales partner for the marketing of its Stage 4/Chapter 4 noise kit for the MD-80 aircraft named Quiet MD-80.

It is produced in two versions a Light Weight System (LWS) applicable for MD-80s up to 149,500 lb MTOW and the Heavy Weight System (HWS) applicable to all MD-80s including 160,000 lb MTOW aircraft. Installation can be performed on wing in one day and requires about 80 man-hours for the LWS and 160 man-hours for the HWS.

The design, development, testing and certification processes, which started in 2003 have been supported by Pratt & Whitney, which also supplied proprietary technology and licensed components.

Kevin Bartelson, president of AFS, said: "Europe is a key market for us because noise restrictions are more stringent than in the U.S. and airports are already applying heavy surcharges and restrictions to noisy aircraft.
